2020/10/15の3番目のアブストラクト 「スウェーデン肥満者研究における肥満手術後の平均余命」 から。
今回は数字の話。
[原文]
In total, 2007 and 2040 patients were included in the surgery group and the control group, respectively, and 1135 participants were included in the reference cohort.
[訳文]
2,007 例が手術群，2,040 例が対照群に組み入れられ，1,135 例が参照コホートに組み入れられた．
AMA Manual of Style 11th を参照してみると、以下の章に数字の書き方が書かれている。
■ 8.2.1.10 Numbers
■ 17.4.3 Number Spacing
■ 18.1.1 Numbers of 4 or More Digits to Either Side of the Decimal point
内容を大まかにまとめると、
① 数字にコンマは使わない。
⇒ e.g. 2007
② 4桁の数字は間を開けない。
⇒ e.g. 2007
③ 1万以上の数字は3桁ごとに”thin space”を入れる。
⇒ e.g. 12 007
④ 小数点以下が5桁以上の数字は小数点以下の部分に3桁ごとに”thin space”を入れる。
⇒ e.g. 123.123 45
⑤ 小数点以下が4桁以下の数字は小数点以下の部分に”thin space”は入れない。
⇒ e.g. 123.1234
※ここでは”thin space”の代わりにだたの半角スペースを使っている。
今回の原文の数字は②に従っているという話でした。
