■ compose : to put things together
例：The regimen is composed of several toxic ingredients.
compose は 受動態 (passive voice) で使用する。
■ comprise：to include (or to be composed of / consist of / include)
例：The modified intention-to-treat population comprised 800 patients.
comprise は 能動態 (active voice) で使用する。
“be comprised of” という表現もあるという方もいるだろう。
しかし、AMA Manual には以下の記述があり、”be comprised of” は誤った表現とされている。
10版：The phrase comprised of is never correct.
9版、11版：Clue to usage: Never use of with comprise.
